Pearls in online advertising
23rd Sep, 2014 at 11:33am

Once you've been around in this business long enough, you start to notice that a lot of people make really bad advertisements, starting with spelling and gramar mistakes, ending with advertising in totally useless spaces.

Sometimes, the end result is chuckle worthy. I'd like to make a topic where we take note of some "so bad its good" ads we see.

I noticed the captcha and copy/paste area of Paidverts is a fertile area for this kind of stuff.
Here's something in today's activation ads:

1st: He's advertising Paidverts in Paidverts  Roll Eyes
The three setences:

ARE YOU TIRED OF REF BOT OF NEOBUX?
THEN JOIN ON PAIDVERTS
Censored REF RENT ROBOT OF NEOBUX

Lol.. I was almost ready to make a post on Paidverts text picked by members..
I think we've seen some of the worst possible advertising text choices there.. Smiley

It's kinda sad that people pay no attention to what they type there..
they mostly don't realize the importance of text in advertising..

They do make my job easier when they type 123456 in all fields. I copy/paste all the way and it's much quicker.
It's harder when everything is in Vietnamese, since I have to be careful typing the captcha.

But some banner ads are also hall-of-shame worthy.

I've occasionally see one banner that's been online for a loooong time, which has 2 frames, saying:

"If you can't earn here....."
"nowhere you can"

It's kinda surprising how such an engrish banner stays up for so long.

Yes, exactly. That area is ideal for setting up the potential prospect for what they are about to see. You can lay out hidden benefits or the finer points of the site that might not be readily apparent. It is like getting a second chance to advertise to them

That is one benefit of Firefox is that the fields retain what you've typed. I suppose it is the same in other browsers, but if the ad is repeated, then you just have to start typing and it comes up.

That happens in some fields on chrome, but not in the ones at Paidverts

Heh, reminds me of some members of Twickerz regarding the admin. One guy said he wanted to marry her.

Speaking of baiting guys, I also find it funny that some small banners on Paidverts feature a big-breasted woman in underwear fondling her boobs or another one shaking her Censored, but all redirect to an investment site (I clicked for research purposes only, I swear  Roll Eyes)

That's an effective bait for the male population.
