I had forgotten about this program at all until last week I received an email from PayPal stating that I am eligible for a bonus from one of my referrals.. The email looks like this :

The email is most likely legit as it shows up with my correct personal and referral's information, plus it doesn't contain any link to be considered spam or phishing. It's just a notification.

Now regarding the PayPal Merchant Referral Bonus, according to what I've read it has been discontinued (sources : 1, 2, 3, 4).

So why am I receiving this notification now..?  :-?
Can't really tell for sure.. maybe because I probably got this referral before it got discontinued or sth.
But if he upgraded to Premier/Business account now I would normally not be considered eligible for this bonus..
Well, I haven't received anything, so I guess only time will tell.. :)

Nice, but odd to see. I know sites like Payza have them, and Neteller, too. (btw, if someone is interesting in opening something at Neteller let me know, since the new member also gets a bonus) but it's strange seeing it from Paypal.

I remember it being popular in the past but after reading that it was discontinued it kinda got forgotten.
Btw, I've always kept my paypal and payza ref links in a backup just in case (they are really hard to find them now..), and I've always used them when posting links to payment processors in my reviews. (I still do though not sure why.. I guess I got addicted.. :P)

EgoPay has a nice referral program going on.. I have a few refs and receive small but frequent bonuses from their payouts. :)
Rui, please pass me your Neteller ref id through PM, I'd like to check out their structure and possibly add it to my supported payment processors.

Neteller's refer a friend program doesn't work with an id. I have to enter a mail address and the invitation will be sent.
The affiliate program, on the other hand, may work like that. But since I don't have a site, I haven't bothered to look very much into it. If you consider putting it as an available payment processor on the ads page, then maybe it could be of interest to you.

Can I use the email address associated with your Paypal account?

Right off the bat I can think of probux.
And it's a very good processor if you're into betting strategies, such as matched-betting/surebets. Most houses support it.

Looks like their affiliates mechanism is still online..
The bonuses are not exactly large (we are supposed to receive $1 after our referral has spent $200 using a business/premier account).

On the other hand, it kinda surprises me as I was never expecting to refer actual upgraded members to PayPal.. lol

Well, let's just wait and see if any bonus pops up..  :dontknow
