Title: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 23rd Sep, 2014 at 11:33am
Once you've been around in this business long enough, you start to notice that a lot of people make really bad advertisements, starting with spelling and gramar mistakes, ending with advertising in totally useless spaces.
Sometimes, the end result is chuckle worthy. I'd like to make a topic where we take note of some "so bad its good" ads we see. I noticed the captcha and copy/paste area of Paidverts is a fertile area for this kind of stuff. Here's something in today's activation ads: 1st: He's advertising Paidverts in Paidverts ::) The three setences: ARE YOU TIRED OF REF BOT OF NEOBUX? THEN JOIN ON PAIDVERTS :censored REF RENT ROBOT OF NEOBUX |

Lol.. I was almost ready to make a post on Paidverts text picked by members..
I think we've seen some of the worst possible advertising text choices there.. :) It's kinda sad that people pay no attention to what they type there.. they mostly don't realize the importance of text in advertising.. |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 23rd Sep, 2014 at 5:11pm
They do make my job easier when they type 123456 in all fields. I copy/paste all the way and it's much quicker.
It's harder when everything is in Vietnamese, since I have to be careful typing the captcha. But some banner ads are also hall-of-shame worthy. I've occasionally see one banner that's been online for a loooong time, which has 2 frames, saying: "If you can't earn here....." "nowhere you can" It's kinda surprising how such an engrish banner stays up for so long. |

Yes, exactly. That area is ideal for setting up the potential prospect for what they are about to see. You can lay out hidden benefits or the finer points of the site that might not be readily apparent. It is like getting a second chance to advertise to them |

That is one benefit of Firefox is that the fields retain what you've typed. I suppose it is the same in other browsers, but if the ad is repeated, then you just have to start typing and it comes up. |

That happens in some fields on chrome, but not in the ones at Paidverts |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by SolidSnake on 24th Sep, 2014 at 12:28am
Ok, I just clicked an ad that in all 3 fields said : "copy paste"
Very creative... ::) |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 27th Sep, 2014 at 2:51pm
Hey, look. It's the yoda banner again. But now it's bigger, redder, longer.... and the same engrish as ever!

Heh, reminds me of some members of Twickerz regarding the admin. One guy said he wanted to marry her.

Speaking of baiting guys, I also find it funny that some small banners on Paidverts feature a big-breasted woman in underwear fondling her boobs or another one shaking her :censored, but all redirect to an investment site (I clicked for research purposes only, I swear ::))
That's an effective bait for the male population. |

It probably works on a lot of outraged women too. They'll click on it in order to report the porn. Only to find out it is the coin site. Hey....wait a minute....how did YOU know it was a bitcoin site Rui? :censored Edit: D'oh, maybe I should read your whole post before asking |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 17th Oct, 2014 at 11:22am
It's been a while since I last saw a chuckle worthy copy/paste on paidverts
This guy has: Yipppeeeee! Testies 1, 2. Tested 1, 2. Ding :censored the witch is dead |

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 18th Oct, 2014 at 11:53am
I don't even know what was censored. I think it was the bell sound: Ding :censored
What could the language filter have found offensive there? [EDIT] Wait, it censored the D ong word? Oh, right. There's also that meaning......[/EDIT] |

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by SolidSnake on 23rd Oct, 2014 at 10:44am
Ok, we've got a new one from PaidVerts!
Here's what he wrote (literally I have not edited anything) : Text 1: what the ........... Text 2: what the ........... Text 3: what the beep The guy tried to hold himself the first 2 times but the 3rd time he couldn't so he auto-censored himself! ;D |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 23rd Oct, 2014 at 12:10pm
I saw a good one today, in a banner. We all know PTC sites pop up like mushrooms, with all kinds of names. But this one takes the cake (or the carrot)
It could be an intelligent wordplay, if not for the banny part ;D |

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 24th Oct, 2014 at 6:15pm
Look on the bright side. Since you're in the banner field, you still have the opportunity to create a reverse pun and make a BuggsBanners site. ;D

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by SolidSnake on 29th Oct, 2014 at 10:52pm
Hmm.. this one is not that special, but I can tell I felt really good after clicking it.. :)
Simple and fair enough! [smiley=thumbsup.gif] 1. Hello! Are you OK? 2. Hi! What are you doing? 3. you have a nice day It makes you *want* to click that and also say thank you in the end.. lol [edit]By the way, I came up with this weird idea to advertise this thread in Paidverts! Get ready to become (more) famous guys.. :P[/edit] |

Actually, I can't help but imagine that said in a robotic voice, throwing me back to the curiosity core in Portal "Hey, you're the lady from the test! "Hi!" "What's that noise?" http://youtu.be/0AeNN6Co_qo?t=15s |

Nice find! I only completed Portal 2 though.. and now I remember they had a complete song at the end of the game with that voice! Awesome idea, isn't it? |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 31st Oct, 2014 at 11:23am
It had the same kind of thing at the end of Portal 1, with a different song, of course. Gotta love Glados and her lyrics. ;D I played that game who knows how many times (since it's MUCH shorter than portal 1 and my nephew loves it to bits.
Regarding portal 2: SPAAAAAAACE! |
Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by SolidSnake on 4th Nov, 2014 at 9:32pm
Ok, I got another one :
1.make money for you 2.my money coming 3.love you my click I would reply.. "So.. that's all I am for you? A click?.." Ok at least he loves me.. :dontknow BTW, another funny part of the clicking process in PV is the Captcha phrases.. So, today I got "honey mustard".. and i'm wondering.. could someone mix those two and create something eatable? ;D |

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by ruicarlov on 6th Nov, 2014 at 12:29pm
I've noticed the captcha are frequently quotes or popular expressions, or titles of songs
I've even googled some of them to see what they're about. We've got quotes like "doo bee doo bee doo" (that's an easy one) and expressions like "yadda yadda yadda". |

Title: Re: Pearls in online advertising Post by SolidSnake on 23rd Jan, 2015 at 1:27pm
So, it's been a while but I got another one that's worth mentioning in PV.. :D
1. Do you love me 2. Please reg account under my ref link 3. I wil fill you and kill you Not sure if he wanted to type "I will find you and kill you" like Liam Neeson said in Taken 1,2,3 movies but it still sounds weird and threatening.. ;D |

It is made up to look like a paid ad. Some people might click on it thinking they are going to earn 2 cents based on where the banner is placed in the paid ad section when really it is just a banner |

I'm not sure if that was the purpose. He or she may have just wanted to show what was possible if one becomes a member of the program. I'd think most marketers or PTC members would know you don't get paid for clicking on an ad unless you become a member? |

no It was on the view ads page in the banner spot right below the fixed ads. Experienced clicker would probably realize it wasn't an ad but newbies would be fooled by it I think. This is the logged out version: https://www.neobux.com/m/v/?vl=878FD859D95BCD4D3B212B90436032DA Right below the fixed ads section there is a spot for banners. The background blends in with the page so it just looks like another fixed ad |
