What kind of online multiplayer game are you creating?
Well, nothing incredible, but simple and cool.
Something like a card game based on a very generic "Hacking Simulation" idea..
Each player has 5 offensive and 5 defensive programs (cards with specific level and attibutes)..
The player logs in the system and retrieves a list of all online and offline other players. Then he can pick one to attack, using his offensive against the enemy player's defensive programs. When someone attacks an offline player he will be facing a handicap to make things fair. So it will be tougher to win when the enemy is offline. Now, if all 5 defensive programs are successfully bypassed the attacker wins and gets experience points and rewards including the ability to upgrade his cards with higher leveled ones.
On the business side of it, I'll include some advertising through the game screens, and I'm also thinking of using affiliate marketing to promote it. However the actual game will be kept free and even though there will be a business opportunity included, it will be optional so that players choose to stay even if they only like to play the game.
That's most of it.. but I currently skipped coding it a little bit as I'm giving some exams these days and I'm pretty busy with that for now.. As soon as exams are over, I'll get back to coding..
However in the meantime I'm in need of a game database server..
I currently host and test it on db4free.net but that's not to be trusted so I'll need to purchase one.
I would have hosted it to my domain here, but it doesn't give database access regardless of IP..
The game is developed on C# so it's not web based which would have been easier to use but harder to code..
