New posts since last visit / Time zone
31st Jan, 2014 at 11:23pm

Hi,

Is there a "New posts since last visit" option or link in the forum?

If not, then what time zone does the forum use? Or would it be possible if I change it to mine in the setting or something?

Thanks!

In order to set up your time zone please click "User CP", select the "Profile" tab and then "Options" link..

In there you can change this setting :

Quote:
Time Offset:
If the time displayed here differs from your local time, then adjust it by changing the settings.

You can adjust it to your GMT based time.

As for the updated posts since last visit question, I've finally prepared and posted the forum's browsing tutorial.
I'm sure you'll find it useful. I tried to make it as easy to follow as possible.. Smiley

I'm still trying to figure out how to change it to my time zone, EST.

For instance, it says:

"Your actually displayed local time:"
2nd Feb, 2014 at 4:15am"

While it's 1st Feb, 2014 7:45 pm EST in my time zone.

I'm not sure I understand how to use the "+" or "-" and the two drop down forms right below the above text? Huh

I think you should be -5 since you are on EST. I'm on PST and it is -8 for me

You can use this site to find the exact time difference to GMT (London's time).

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

Another easy way to set it is to see the difference between the forum's time and your time, for example based on the time you noticed :

"Your actually displayed local time:"
2nd Feb, 2014 at 4:15am"

Etc. if the correct time in your place is
2nd Feb, 2014 at 00:15am"

then you should probably use :   - 04 : 00

I got the minutes to match. However, the hours seem to be off. I'll try again tomorrow.

For instance, when the "Your actually displayed local time:" is the following in my account:

3rd Feb, 2014 at 2:17pm

I then use - 01 00

The updated time is then:

3rd Feb, 2014 at 4:18pm

Does that look right to you? Huh

http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/

Click the red dot on your city and you will see the time difference. (Whether it is -1 or -3 or like that.) You should choose that in your x-ptcbox forum profile.

I clicked my country and it showed +5.30, which is correct.

Btw, have you checked the : "Enable automatic Daylight Savings Time change?" checkbox?
I have it set on checked mode. Please, check it out and let me know.

Ok, I got it to work now. Seems that -5 did the trick. Thanks everyone!
